With all of these signings and player movements, I think its time to look at both newly reformed conferences.
1. Heat: With the addition of Bosh and LeBron to go along with Wade, the Heat are a sure lock to contend for an NBA championship next season.
2. Celtics: I'm ranking the Celtics over the Magic because of the addition of Shaq. I think that the Celtics have the best frontcourt in the East with Garnett, Shaq, Jermaine, Davis, Perkins, and Semih Erden.
3. Magic: The Magic are basically the same team as last year but a year older and with Q-Rich and Chris Duhon. Rumors had it that Boozer was headed to Orlando for Carter, Nelson, and draft picks but the ended up not happening. The Magic added 2 more shooters to the roster but lost one of their best defenders, Matt Barnes, to the Lakers.
4. Bulls: The Bulls missed out on the big 3, but didn't sulk. They went ahead and grabbed Carlos Boozer, Korver, Ronnie Brewer, Kurt Thomas, C.J Watson, and they are bringing in 7'0 ft Turkish center, Omer Asik (A-sh-ik) who helped Turkey finish 2nd in the FIBA Games. The Bulls are a deep 2nd round playoff or a early 3rd round playoff team at this point, but anything can happen in the NBA.
5. Hawks: The Hawks brought back Joe Johnson and might lose Jamal Crawford. Either way they can be a 6th spot team with or without Crawford.
6. Bucks: The Bucks I think can take the 5th spot away from the Hawks but we will see what happens with Crawford. The Bucks resigned John Salmons and picked up Corey Maggette and Drew Gooden. They also have Bogut coming back along with Jennings running the point.
7. Bobcats: This is where it gets tough for me, but I think the Cats' have a chance at taking this 7th spot with a full season with Jackson and Wallace. They did lose Chandler and Felton, but Livingston, Kwame Brown, and Sherron Collins should help fill those lost spots.
8. Wizards: I am going to give the 8th spot to the Wizards... Yes, the Wizards. Not the Nets or the Knicks or Pacers. I think the Wizards are capable with the team they have. They grabbed Kirk Hinrich, obviously have John Wall, and a healthy Arenas coming back. They also picked up Yi Jianlian and Josh Howard should be good to go.
9. Knicks: The Knicks might be able to grab the 8th spot if they play well with Amare in the middle, but the New York offense might just ruin everything. Lets see what Melo does, and maybe the Knicks can move to the 6th spot.
10. Nets: The Nets drafted Derrick Favors, picked up Farmar, Morrow, Troy Murphy, and Travis Outlaw. I don't think with this team its going to be as bad of a season as last year, but they have work to do. With Lopez and Harris, this team could be good.
11. 76ers: With Evan Turner coming in to play with Iggy, Holiday, and Nocioni, this team can be an offensive threat. They did lose the core of their defense, Dalembert, but filled that role with Spencer Hawes.
12. Pacers: With the addition of Collison, the Pacers now have that extra point guard push that they have needed for a long time. They did lose Murphy but got Posey and a healthy Danny Granger coming back. They also drafted Paul George, a 6'8 small forward from Fresno.
13. Pistons: They signed T-Mac, but not much else. They did draft Eric Monroe which should give them a tougher look. If Hamilton and Gordon can stay healthy, I think they could move up a few spots.
14. Cavs: What else could go wrong? They lost LeBron and didn't get anything back in return. They also lost Shaq and Delonte West. They went ahead and got Ryan Hollins and Ramon Sessions but thats about it. Lets see what happens.
15. Raptors: Everyone knew Chris Bosh was leaving, but the Raptors didn't want to believe it. They got nothing in return for Chris Bosh at all. All they did was draft Ed Davis, sign Kleiza, lose Turkoglu, sign Barbosa, and now Calderon might not be ready for the season.
Well that was my take on the Eastern Conference. Lets see how you would rank em' and I should have the Western Conference up soon.
